YOU Putting “Fun” Into Fundraising

In Uncategorized on February 14, 2012 at 6:39 pm

How often do YOU “fun”draise at your work? Do YOU have a say in which charity your organization will choose? There are many times throughout the year that your organization may raise funds for a charity but how those funds are raised depends on the resources available such as time, volunteers and could depend on YOU.

For the employees at the Bayers Road Head Shoppe, there was no question about who they wanted to raise money for and how they wanted to do it.  A few of the employees had a connection to Alzheimer’s disease in their families and they wanted to do something to help.

The team came together and soon decided to hold an evening auction for Alzheimer’s at The Jolly Mug in Bayers Lake. After contacting the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia to discuss the idea, they reached out to local businesses and members of the community.

There was an overwhelming amount of support from local businesses who donated prizes for the auction which was held in early February, 2010. Families, friends, clients and members of the community attended the auction.

After a fun evening of socializing, bidding for items and learning more about brain health from the Alzheimer Society,  guests took home fabulous prizes that they had won. The Head Shoppe ended up raising over $5,000 for  families living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias.

Thank YOU Bayers Road Head Shoppe for supporting our cause and raising awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.  If YOU are passionate about our cause and have an idea about how your organization can support families living with Alzheimer’s disease, we want to hear from YOU.
